Getting Started - Taking the first step
It can be very overwhelming for any family starting their healing journey when it comes to Autism. There are a lot of myths to bust. And no clear path on what should happen first. After working with hundreds of families, we have realized the value of keeping things simple for the overwhelmed and distressed parents. Here are some pivotal areas that we coach families in, and these will become the milestones of your journey. Start here !
Functional Health Approach to Autism
Its more than just popping some supplements and oils. It is understanding why symptoms turn up in us. Why do we get a headache ? Is the answer just taking pain relief ? Why would a child not sleep at night ? Is it lack of melatonin production ? Why would a child be so picky in eating ? It is about asking and answering the question why.
See this video to learn, exactly how can we apply a nutrient based, functional approach to Autism, speech delay or any condition that hinders the development of our children.
1. The Role of Special Diet
Next we focus on cleaning up the diet by starting with healthy swaps. Removing dairy for dairy free options and slowly phasing out gluten when possible. We also look at other food culprits such as corn, soy and other foods that may lead to food sensitivity. Take a look at my explanation of "Role of GFCF Diet in Autism" below:
2. Role of Gut Health in Autism
Another crucial step in the healing journey is the gut health of your child. Are they experiencing discomfort, are they a picky eater, do you find they get bloated after certain meals. Here is a helpful video that will help you understand what role gut health can play and how by making small changes you can make a big difference to your child's health.
Mental Health of the Caregiver
Another important part of a child's healing is the mental health of their caregiver. Take a look at our Caregiver Mental Health Summit where our founder, Batool spoke with numerous professionals and shared insights on the biggest hurdles to a caregiver's mental health when navigating special need parenting.
